Wilsonville Game Room

Location: Wilsonville

A one-of-a-kind bonus room for a one-of-a-kind client!

This over-the-garage bonus room in a 2020-built home now multitasks as a game room, vinyl collection room, and cat hang-out room, personalized for our super cool Gen-Z client, Alison. We designed a colorful, textural, sensory-filled space to be a place for her to escape and shelter herself in a fantasy world.

Alison has a huge heart and rescues cats in her downtime — they are drawn to her! So, this room has to serve her and her furry friends. We added a custom area for their litter boxes, complete with a window seat cushion and climbing wall. To keep the room smelling fresh — litter boxes and all — we partnered with Kevin Rosa and Laura Natale of Opus Vitae Construction. We would never have considered installing a high-efficiency ventilation system to handle unpleasant odors. That's why you team with the best in the business and leave it to the pros!

The rest of the room is tailored for Alison's gaming —  We chose a deep, textural color palette tailored to her gaming needs. We designed a bespoke sectional built locally by our long-time upholstery team, Custom Line, Mfg. Allison hand-selected posters that we arranged around her giant TV for her. We also worked hand in hand with Opus and their glass supplier to design a special mirror and glass display wall for her vintage vinyl collection. It's even backlit for added drama! Speaking of drama, this room would not be complete without the LED lighting embedded in the base trim of the room. It's absolutely the coolest thing!

To accommodate cats and life, we chose a very durable and refinishable stained wood, which we punctuated with a vibrant FLOR "tile" area rug, which individual "tiles" can easily be swapped out in case of a kitty accident or drink spill! All the fabrics are hardworking — plus a few stunning velvets —from Kravet, and the ceiling is adorned with wallpaper from Tamara Design Co.

When clients give us great ideas and then let us run hand in hand with consummate pros like Opus Vitae Construction, fabulously fun things happen!

Before

This was my second project with Arlene and her lovely team. I was so happy with how thoughtful they were with all my small requests and understood the nuances of my unique style. My part was handing over a mood board inspired mainly by dark boho interiors with an 80s color palette twist and knowing I could trust Arlene and Kim to develop something far better than my vision. My spoiled cats are, of course, accounted for; if I ever need to find them now, they are probably napping on the gorgeous pink couch. This part of my house is a dream and the perfect place to retreat on weekends.
