Business Supporting Business

In this conversation, Anna VonRosenstiel divulges the virtues of locally made products. Both Anna and Arlene share the value of investing themselves in their work and how that translates to the finished product. Often it is overlooked that the value is in the quality, the attention to detail, and the energy that a person who cares puts into each, curated project. Anna shares that the Carter & Rose team intentionally creates products in a reasonable, accessible price range. They make products with intention — the passion behind each item correlates with the quality and durability of the products.

Besides making all of her products locally, Anna supports 40+ local businesses by sourcing materials from the community. Ana embodies the Portland communal mindset, getting her kiln firewood from local lumberyards and her decorative nails from her father’s business. She tells Arlene about her candle vendor who drops off candles personally on her bike. Every time a candle sells in the shop, Anna knows she is supporting the PDX community.
